Brad's Wine Subscription Tasting Notes - March 2022
”I have been inspired to work with small, family-owned wineries because in my experience, they produce the best value wines that you can find. These wines are hand-crafted - they have a story about where they are from and how they are made - and it is these wines that I send out every month to our subscribers, wines with beautiful details that I enjoy sharing with people."

WHITE WINES
Baglio Baiata Alagna 2021 Grillo . Sicily, Italy
Grillo, also known as Riddu and Rossese bianco, is a white Italian wine grape variety that withstands high temperatures and is widely used in Sicilian winemaking. The finished wine is fresh with lovely floral perfumes, nicely balanced on the pallet and perfect chilled down with fish, chicken, pork and veal dishes or low-fat cheeses.
Château Saintongey Blanc 2020 . Bordeaux, France
An elegant blend of Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle. Notes of citrus and flowers seduce both the nose and the palate. A perfect balance of exotic fruit flavours and a tangy finish make this a wonderful expression of a classic Bordeuax dry white wine. Perfect as an aperitif, with seafood or with fruit desserts.
Vignafante Bianco IGT . Umbria, Italy
Produced from the cold vat ferment of Chardonnay, Grechetto and Viognier grapes. Straw coloured with soft golden hues. Lovely clarity in the glass with floral bouquets and zesty mineral tones. This is a beautifully blended and balanced wine that has the texture to marry excellently with sea bass, swordfish or grilled prawn dishes.
ROSÉ WINE
March 2022 Rosé Selection
Depending upon your location in Europe, you will receive a beautiful rosé wine that is soft, balanced and expressive. As we are developing our rosé selection for the summer of 2022, we’d be happy to hear back from you on what you think about the style that we send you. We hand-select all of our wines, and so we assure excellent quality.
RED WINES
Baglio Baiata Alagna 2020 Nero d’Avola . Sicily, Italy
Nero d'Avola is "the most important red wine grape in Sicily" and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. It is named after Avola in the far south of Sicily, and its wines are compared to New World Shirazes, with sweet tannins and plum or peppery flavours. This is rich and full-bodied, a perfect match with roasted meats.
Isola Organic 2021 Syrah . Cuenca Province, Spain
Intense violet-red colour, this wine is clean and fresh. The nose is intense like the colour, with rich red fruit sensations, which are fresh, expressive and suggestive of ripe red berry fruit. The wine is long and balanced on the pallet, with spice characters that offer great length, some cinnamon spice is apparent. Suggest to pair with roast lamb.
Baron de Gascq 2019 Rouge . Bordeaux, France
This dry and earthy Bordeaux red is produced from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and is a classic blend, aged briefly in French oak barriques. The wine has primary characteristics of blackcurrant, mint, mocca and both milk and dark chocolate with secondary savoury nuances of dry earthy tannins and tobacco leaf.
