Brad's Wine Subscription Tasting Notes - February 2022
”I have been inspired to work with small, family-owned wineries because in my experience, they produce the best value wines that you can find. These wines are hand-crafted - they have a story about where they are from and how they are made - and it is these wines that I send out every month to our subscribers, wines with beautiful details that I enjoy sharing with people."

WHITE WINES
Cerrolaza Ricote Blanco . Rioja, Spain
100% Viura grape. Straw-coloured, showing youth and freshness with lovely aromatics of mandarin rind, exotic fruits and pineapple combined with citrus acidity. The wine is light on the palate, balanced and fresh. Perfect as an aperitif and with creamy cheeses.
Arsius Entre-Deux-Mers 2020 . Bordeaux, France
An elegant blend of Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle. Notes of citrus and flowers seduce both the nose and the palate. A perfect balance of exotic fruit flavours and a tangy finish make this a wonderful expression of the Entre-Deux-Mers. Perfect as an aperitif, with seafood or with dessert such as a fruit pie.
Bodegas San Valero Origium 2018 . Cariñena, Spain
Two blended grape varietals make up this excellent white wine - Macabeo (70 %) and Chardonnay (30 %). Bottle-aged and soft with a lovely richness on the palate, this wine fits perfectly with creamy dishes like Carbonara and also roasted meats and salmon. A wine, which has textures that matches better with food than on their own.
ROSÉ WINE
Villa Valentina Organic Rosato . Puglia, Italy
An excellent, soft Rosato, produced from fruit grown in some of the finest vineyards of Apulia. The wine is made with 100% Bombino Nero, which is a typical autochthonous grape of Apulia. Fruity and elegant, perfect with seafood dishes, crab and summer salads, pizza, mozzarella di bufala, and tomatoes stuffed with rice.
RED WINES
Convento Da Gloria 2019 Tinta Roriz . Lisboa, Portugal
This wine has a complex and fine structure deriving from the acidity of the soil. Tinta Rouriz is a synonym of Tempranillo of Rioja and Ribeira del Duero. The wine is filled with fine fruit characters and matches perfectly with grilled red meats and dark chocolate.
La Commanderie de Gombau 2018 . Bordeaux, France
90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Produced from 40 year old vines in aint-Germain-du-Puch, this fine and elegant red wine shows aromatics of blackcurrant and tobacco leaf and is dry and savoury on the pallet. These styles of wines fit very well with hard cheeses as aperitif and lean meats such as fillet steak, no sauce, just grilled.
Cerrolaza Ricote Joven . Rioja, Spain
Produced from 50% Tempranillo and 50% Viura grapes and aged for 14 months in American oak barrels, the wine has a dark, cherry colour with a violet rim. Beautiful fresh red and dark fruit primary aromas are backed by nuances of oaky vanilla. On the palate, it has a long finish and some balsamic characteristics.
