Learn With Brad: Syrah (Shiraz) - History, Tasting and Order Online

Syrah is known for being easy to grow, vigorous and resistant to mildew. Its aromas evolve from raspberry, pepper and liquorice in its youth to more complex notes of black fruit, leather and spices over time. It is mainly grown in the Rhône Valley, particularly in the famous Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage regions, but is also found in other French regions such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, as well as in Australia, where it is known as shiraz. 

Syrah goes well with roast or marinated meat dishes, game, duck and lamb. Younger vintages are perfect for grilled or spicy dishes, while older vintages go better with tender meats and more delicate dishes.
