Estandon: The Wine Cooperative Capital of Provence

Estandon: The Wine Cooperative Capital of Provence

Estandon is one of Provence’s most respected wine cooperatives, known for its elegant, sun-kissed wines that capture the essence of the Mediterranean. Founded in 1947 and based in Brignoles, Estandon Vignerons unites over three hundred growers across southern France, combining generations of tradition with modern expertise. The cooperative’s philosophy is built on collaboration, sustainability and authenticity, producing wines that are accessible, consistent and unmistakably Provençal.

Among its many ranges, Brise Marine stands out as a signature expression of Estandon’s style. The name means “sea breeze”, a tribute to the coastal winds that cool the vineyards and shape the freshness of the wines. Inspired by local legend — that Phoenician sailors once brought vines to Provence carried by the same marine winds — Brise Marine captures the true taste of the Mediterranean.

The Brise Marine Rosé, made from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, is a perfect example of modern Provence winemaking. Pale and delicate in colour, it offers aromas of red berries, citrus and white flowers, with a crisp, dry finish and a hint of minerality. Served chilled, it’s ideal with seafood, grilled vegetables or fresh salads. The Brise Marine Blanc, typically a blend of Clairette and Ugni Blanc, is light, floral and subtly fruity — perfect with grilled fish or shellfish. The Brise Marine Rouge, crafted from Grenache and Syrah, is soft and rounded, with notes of ripe cherries, spice and Mediterranean herbs, best enjoyed slightly chilled alongside lamb, charcuterie or mature cheese.

All Brise Marine wines are made under the IGP Méditerranée designation and are designed to be enjoyed young, when their fruit and freshness are at their best. Together they express the balance, brightness and easy elegance that define Provençal wine.

Estandon’s Brise Marine range is more than a collection of bottles — it’s the story of the land, the sea and the people who bring them together. Every glass offers a taste of Provence itself: sun, salt air and the simple pleasure of life by the coast.
