Brad's Tasting Notes - February 2021

”I have been inspired to work with small, family-owned wineries because in my experience, they produce the best value wines that you can find. These wines are hand-crafted - they have a story about where they are from and how they are made - and it is these wines that I send out every month to our subscribers, wines with beautiful details that I enjoy sharing with people."

S. Sebastião 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Blend . Portugal

Lemon fresh colour, with an expressive citrus nose of lime and tropical aromas. The palate is soft with refreshing acidity. Excellent with soft cheeses, fish especially swordfish and white meat.

Klippenkop 2019 Chenin Blanc . Robertson, South Africa
An appealing light straw colour. Full bodied with powerful varietal flavours of pineapple, granadilla, melon and green apple. Good structure with lovely balancing acidity. Enjoy now with smoked salmon, roast chicken and pork.

Altaluvia 2019 Riesling . Uco Valley, Chile
Elegant, mineral and with excellent typicity, this Riesling has a firm texture and aromas of fresh green apples typical of the variety. Excellent dry wine, great with any light white fish dishes. Brad’s number one choice for this month!

Woodlands NV Shiraz Rosé . South East Australia
from Shiraz grapes and offers a fruit-forwarded style of wine that fits the winter season well. Excellent with salads, fish and light meat.

Aymar 2019 Tranquil . Penedes, Spain
This organic Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Grenache blend has intense cherry color with violet hues, deep and bright. Aromas of ripe fruits with an elegant touch of violet offers soft tannins in combination with floral nuances that lead to a long and elegant aftertaste. Excellent with all cheese and meat dishes.

Oscar Bosio 2019 Barbera d’Alba . Piemonte, Italy
Intense ruby red with fresh aromas of black cherry, blueberry and currant. Lovely finish and perfect with food especially cold-cuts and cheeses, roasted and grilled meats and heavier seafood dishes (fritto misto).

Volcanes Reserve Pinot Noir 2019 . Casablanca, Chile
Vibrant garnet in colour, this Pinot Noir is dominated with strawberry and cherry aromas, some spice that is apparent on the palate with a silky, fresh mouth-feel. Excellent with salads, oriental cuisine, oily fish for example salmon and great with cheeses and desserts. A great all-rounder!
